Request for GRADUATE Keyboard (Piano or Organ) Audition
2011 - 2012 (for students entering in Fall 2012 or Spring 2013)

Completed admissions application must be postmarked no later than December 15(DMA) or March 1 (MM). 

Prospective MM students may choose to audition February 4, February 25, or March 10, 2012.

Prospective DMA students may choose to audition February 23-24 or March 8-9, 2012,-- Two days required. (DMA auditions are pre-screened, and only those invited following pre-screening may audition. )

Masters Piano Students should prepare repertoire chosen from:

  • A program of at least three works from different stylistic periods, to include a complete sonata or other large-scale composition
  • Length of audition is 30 minutes
  • All music must be performed from memory

DMA Piano Students Pre-Screening Recording Requirements*:

  • A recording of a minimum of three stylistic periods should be presented, including a major work from the classical period.
  • The recording must be a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • All music must be performed from memory.
  • Only DVD recordings will be accepted and must be an unedited, fixed camera recording from the last two (2) years.

Invited Piano DMA Students Final Audition Requirements*:

  • A program of a minimum of three stylistic periods should be presented, including a major work from the classical period. The prepared program should be at least 60 minutes in length.
  • Length of live audition is 30 minutes, followed by a 15 minute interview.
  • All music must be performed from memory.
  • Applicant must present a dossier at the audition which must include the audition program, a vita, and a repertoire list.

*Final DMA Auditions are by invitation only following review of the applicant’s pre-screening recording and application materials.

Artist Diploma Piano Students should prepare repertoire chosen from:

  • One work from the Baroque period
  • One complete sonata from the Classical period
  • One major work from the 19th century
  • Two etudes of virtuosity, one of which must be by Chopin
  • One work from the 20th or 21st century
  • All music must be performed from memory
