DOUBLE BASS:
Assistant Professor/Studio Double Bass beginning August 2008, tenure track. Teaching studio double bass at the undergraduate levels; attracting and retaining quality students essential; continuing/expanding professional performance to achieve national visibility; teaching string literature, pedagogy, chamber music; teaching a course(s) in a secondary area according to the needs of the department and the candidate's interest (ex. Music theory, music history, music education, jazz, music technology, etc.;) participating in departmental activities appropriate for a faculty member at the major research university.
Qualifications: Doctorate or equivalent professional experience desirable; Masters degree required. High-level performing ability as a double bassist, demonstrated success in teaching double bass at the college level; promise for national recognition as a performer and teacher.
Applications should include a letter of application, a complete vita 3-5 letters of recommendation, additional references, CDs or tapes of solo and chamber performances, recital programs, and evidence of teaching success. Finalists may be asked to submit additional materials. Application review will begin March 10, 2008 and continue until the position is filled.
