In her position as Director of TCU's Preparatory
Division, Leanne Kirkham supervises 35
teachers/staff and over 800 students of all
instruments, vocal studies, and preschool
music. In addition
to teaching undergraduate and graduate
Piano Pedagogy courses and
Class Piano for the university, Ms. Kirkham
teaches preschool music classes and studio
piano through the Music Preparatory Division.
Her students have received numerous awards
in piano competitions, and she is a frequent
adjudicator. She contributed articles on three
occasions to the Keyboard Companion Magazine.
Other duties have included serving on the Administration/Pedagogy Liason Committee of the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy, as well as a term as chairman of the Keyboard Committee of the Texas Music Educator’s Association. She has presented sessions at National Pedagogy Conferences, MTNA, TMTA and TMEA. She has served as president of the Fort Worth MTA and District Contest Chairman for the TMTA. She has completed the required coursework toward her Phd. in music education with emphasis in piano pedagogy at the University of North Texas.
