Ruth Wagoner Thompson received a B.A. in German (honors) from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and an M.A. in German from the University of Texas, Austin. She holds life teaching certificates in Texas and Kansas, and has taught German, French, and history in secondary schools in Kansas and Texas. She also earned a B.A. in Church Music (summa cum laude) from Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, and an M.M. in Organ Performance from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth. As an undergraduate, she won first prize in the William T. Hall organ competition in San Antonio. While a student at TCU, she was the graduate assistant in organ. She has worked as organist and handbell choir director in numerous churches in Kansas and Texas. Her memberships include the American Guild of Organists, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Sigma Alpha Iota.
