9:30am- Check-In for High School Horn Solo Competition Participants Ed Landreth Auditorium Lobby (ELH)
10:00am-12pm: High School Horn Solo Competition* Begins - Ed Landreth Hall
12pm-2pm: Lunch on your own
2pm: Master class with David Cooper, Ed Landreth Hall
3:15pm: HornFest Honors Ensemble Coaching with David Cooper, Ed Landreth Hall
4pm-5:30pm: Chatting with Cooper

1. Each soloist must be currently enrolled in high school.
2. Each soloist must be available and registered for HornFest on April 9 (1pm and/or 5pm concert) and the High School Horn Solo Competition on April 8, and no older than 18 years of age on April 9, 2017.

3. Solos must be a Class/Grade 1 from the UIL/PMLlist (see here for quick reference.

4. Solos must be accompanied if the piece calls for piano.

5. You may bring your own accompanist or you may select to have our acclaimed and experienced TCU HornFest pianist, Edward Newman, accompany you for an additional fee and outside rehearsal time that you set up with Mr. Newman. Mr. Newman's rehearsal/coaching fee is $25 per half hour or $45 per hour, and his compensation is not included in HornFest or solo competition registration. If you want to hire him as your accompanist, you must arrange rehearsal time with him in Fort Worth and may reach him at pianewman@gmail.com and 703-599-8730. You must provide Mr. Newman with a copy of the piano part prior to meeting with him. Failure to contact Mr. Newman may result in having no accompanist and not being able to compete. Edward Newman is a fabulous musician and coach, and you will thoroughly enjoy preparing and collaborating with him! At least one rehearsal with Mr. Newman is recommended. Edward Newman must be contacted no later than 3/29/17 to arrange rehearsal time (contacting him much sooner than that is preferred!).

7. You must register and submit pdfs of both the horn and piano part with your application no later than 3/29/17 to h.test@tcu.edu.

8. The winning solo performer will play in the masterclass with David Cooper at 2pm on Saturday, April 8, 2017 AND either the 1pm Participant Showcase or 5pm Finale Concert of April 9, 2017.

9. As part of the reward for competing, ALL High School Solo Horn Competition participants are invited to be in the HornFest Honors Ensemble, alongside the TCU Horn Studio members and will be coached by David Cooper and directed by Heather Test on Saturday afternoon at 3:15pm. The rehearsed piece will be performed on the April 9 Finale Concert.

12pm- Check-In and Late Registration - Walsh Performing Arts Center Lobby
1pm- Participant Showcase - PepsiCo Recital Hall (Do you have an ensemble that would like to perform at HornFest? Please submit your duet, trio, quartet or more group name as well as work title and composer to Heather Test h.test@tcu.edu for consideration to be added to the 1pm Participant Showcase program. All ages welcome.)
2pm- David Cooper Clinic - PepsiCo Recital Hall
3:15pm- Mass Horn Ensemble Rehearsal (ALL HornFest participants) - PepsiCo Recital Hall
3:45pm- Honors Horn Ensemble sound check (HS Horn Solo Competition Participants and TCU Horn Ensemble members) - PepsiCo Recital Hall
4pm- PIZZA and EXHIBITS - Walsh Performing Arts Center Lobby and Band Room
5pm- TCU HornFest Finale Concert featuring hornist David Cooper and pianist Misha Berestnev - PepsiCo Recital Hall
Other guests include: The TCU Horn Ensemble, HS Solo Competition Winner, Honors Horn Ensemble, Guest Horn Ensemble, and YOU in the HornFest Mass Horn Choir
