Piano Pedagogy

In addition to a long-standing reputation of excellence in piano performance, the TCU School of Music offers the following degree programs in Piano Pedagogy:

•Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy
•Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy
•Master of Music Education in Piano Pedagogy

The TCU Piano Pedagogy program is directed by Dr. Ann M. Gipson. The piano pedagogy curriculum at both the undergraduate and master’s level combines extensive course work with simultaneous hands-on teaching experience. Pedagogy students agree that while the coursework is informative and useful, the real learning of how to teach can only be accomplished by actually teaching. Regular observation of teaching and discussion of teaching strengths and weaknesses allow student teachers to develop teaching skills throughout their pedagogy study.
